![]() ![]() Vi's Best Item BuildĪs a starting item, we would recommend Hunter’s Machete in the jungle and Doran’s Shield in the top lane, both for their added sustain early. It can save you in tight spots and can also be used offensively to Flash in and close the gap before dashing forward to engage. Follow up with Vault Breaker to push them back towards your team or if they were in their team’s backline, follow up with Excessive Force to hit multiple enemies.įlash is essential on almost every champion. Vi’s ultimate also lands her behind her target. If you can, try to use it while multiple enemies are between you and your target to maximize your damage. Vi’s ult damages enemies that she passes through on the way to her target. You can use this ability to initiate over walls, although Vault Breaker might be a better choice to initiate with.Be careful, if your target Flashes back or uses another movement ability before you knock them up, you may find yourself much deeper into the enemy’s territory than you planned. In the late game, when the enemy team’s tanks are peeling for their carries, this ability will get you past all of their defenses, so you can wreak havoc in their back line. Vi is immune to all crowd control while dashing. In this case, that’s the recall animation.Vi’s ultimate causes her to dash towards her target, knocking aside any enemies in her path. ![]() It’s really a testament that one or two cool things can just bring skins over top of all the others. ![]() Her original skin, released back in 2012, has certainly stood the test of time. As a PROJECT skin, it of course comes with plenty of slick animations and effects on her strikes and dashes. Transforming her clunky, metallic gauntlets made by some Piltover mechanic into futuristic, cybernetic gauntlets just made far too much sense for the champion. I know, I know, I’m a sucker for the PROJECT skins, but sometimes they just work. For an older skin (this was released in 2013) having this unique recall animation makes this worth buying. You have Vi decked out in a police uniform, red lights and sirens going whenever she dashes in, and she even has a baton that she twirls on recall. Now, on the other hand, this a case where the skin and the concept behind it work wonderfully with the champion. The model and effects look amazing, but for whatever reason the whole concept of the Enforcer of Piltover transformed into a demon just doesn’t work for me. Here, Vi is portrayed as a demon complete with purple skin and bat wings that open every time she dashes forward. This is another skin where the idea and execution both work, but the theme doesn’t. ![]() And it’s not as though it was done tongue-in-cheek, Riot really seemed to be leaning into the idea that Vi was going to be a cute love interest to some other champion and it just doesn’t work. She’s supposed to be this brawling, rough-and-tumble enforcer, so it’s odd to see her get the feminine treatment. The reason I don’t like it, though, is that the Heartseeker/Valentines skin aesthetic just doesn’t really fit with Vi. This skin has all the bells and whistles to justify the increased cost, like new effects on her abilities and a nice addition of sprinkling petals on her recall animation. There are no new effects or interactions, so you should only go for this skin because you think it looks cool. While the price tag makes this appetizing and the artwork/style of the champion is interesting, this skin is otherwise fairly bland. One of her oldest skins, this also happens to be her cheapest.
