I use an old Arizona Green Tea jug which is 1 gallon. but i just have a gallon green tea jug that I mix my water and nutes in ahead of time, then keep it stored until i have to top off my little watering bottle- it's a little laboratory squeeze bottle with an L-shaped pipe/nozzle and allows me to just squeeze my nutrient solution into my cups or individual rockwool cubes. I don't have any larger setups like that- all my stuff is still in solo cups at the moment until they get big enough roots to transfer. but just mix your nutrient/water solution in bulk, then you can pour it into your grow container as necessary to get the level of fill that you need without having to worry about calculating the nutrient quantity out every time you add water to the bucket. if you're using a container that is a 5-gallon bucket or tub or something, then you won't actually fill it with 5 gallons of water. ![]() So if the nutrient bottle says like, 1/2teaspoon per 1gallon, do a quarter teaspoon in one gallon of water. That said, conventional wisdom for a lot of the hydro nutrients is that you should start off with about half of the ratio that the bottles say to use, and then slowly work up to the prescribed ratio to prevent horrific nute burn early on. ![]() that makes it easier to follow the instructions for ratios. but I would say mix the nutrient solution in a separate 1-gallon container, then keep it on hand to add into your kratky bucket. I am in no way an expert, or even all that experienced. ![]()
